Hey, vampire fans! I just started a little project over at www.sixgunstudios.com/forums where I hope to catalyze further production of West Texas Vampires and other films that I’d like to make (and hopefully films that you’d like to make) too.
Go sign up for the Sixgun Studios Forums. It’s free and fun and it will change your life forever.

I’m calling people and meeting with them and establishing the cast. This should be finished (hopefully) by this weekend. Then the cast and I will start rehearsing lines for the first shoot, which will take place in Mid May at the Blue Light.
Even though I’m narrowing the main cast down to seven (villian, hero, Lubbock County Five) there will be several small parts and SEVERAL places for extras. I really hope everyone comes out to our first shoot at the Blue Light.
I’ve been trying to send emails to y’all but apparently Gmail thinks I’m spamming and won’t deliver them. Lame. I’ll find an alternate solution.

Hey, just thought I’d drop y’all a quick line and let you know that when I’m not working my 9-5 (which is how I’m funding this film, unless someone wants to give me a crap ton of money) I’m busy going through all the headshots, forms, and video clips from the casting call party at the Blue Light. So don’t get ants in your pants about getting a part - we’ll be in touch. It’s just taking a while to evaluate each read.
Think about it - you were reading lines from a poorly formatted script that you’ve never seen before until that very day. You were trying to read over the music coming from two different places. You were in front of lights that were brighter than the surface of the sun. You were nervous. Heck, I was nervous.
So I have a lot to think about when I’m going through these reads - a lot of factors to consider. So hold your horses, cause you’ll be getting a phone call either from me or from my “production coordinator” Sarah Whetstone. Thanks!

During the two days prior to our casting call, we called and emailed the 250 people who signed up on www.westtexasvampires.com about the event. Here’s a few facts about the casting call party on April 15th at the Blue Light:
1. Y’all packed the house.

This is one of the best crowds that the Blue Light has seen on a Tuesday night. Thanks for coming out! Right around half of the people who signed up on the website actually showed up to read lines or offer their services in one way or another.
A lot of you had never been to the Blue Light before, so hopefully you’ll come back and hear some good music every now and then. You stand a pretty good chance of finding me up there if you ever want to hang out, especially when Ryan James or Wes Nickson are in town.
2. Over 100 of you wanted to participate.

Obviously, this movie centers around the Lubbock County Five and not the Lubbock County 100, so I’m going to have to make a few cuts. But that doesn’t mean we can’t still be friends, and that doesn’t mean you won’t be considered as a crew member or an extra for this future productions.
I’ve got 96 headshots of y’all, which I will be posting soon on the Sixgun Studios website for you to download and put on you FaceSpace or MyBook.
Speaking of social networking, stay tuned to that Sixgun site, because I’m going to add some features which will keep everyone networked and in the loop with West Texas Vampires and other upcoming productions taking off in the near future.
3. We’ll Get Back With You

The next step for us is to go through the forms and the 80 video clips we shot of people who read lines for the film. We’ll evaluate your reads and match you up to the characters written into the film. Then we’ll be calling everyone who came out to the casting call to let you know how we’d like you to participate!
Thanks to Sarah Whetstone for making all the phone calls! Thanks to David Brooks and the entire Blue Light staff for hosting this event! Thanks to Jerod Foster for documenting the evening with his camera, thanks to Dustin Six and Brittany Given for handling the logistics, Lance and Bobby and Cassidy for stepping up to help out, and a very special thank you to the girl standing to my immediate left in the photo above for not breaking my arm when I totally embarrassed myself by quoting a potentially incendiary line from a film she’d never heard of.
